These are two of my favorite quotes. They keep me going when my aspiration to become an entrepreneur gets [momentarily] derailed by pesky problems like patent issues and competition.
“It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer.”
– Albert Einstein
“Keep on going, and the chances are that you will stumble on something, perhaps when you are least expecting it. I never heard of anyone ever stumbling on something sitting down.” – Charles F. Kettering
I will keep on dreaming. I will keep on taking things apart and trying to improve them. I will keep on trying to solve problems, and I will always keep on creating.
Last week, I, along with a busload of other Rutgers MBA students, was disconnected from my phone and email and off to Costa Rica to learn how they do Green Business.
What an amazing experience. Costa Rica is the only place in the world where you can gain exclusive access to five types of functioning renewable energy facilities. I visited a 100% carbon neutral company. A geothermal plant. A green manufacturing plant. A volcano. A wind farm. A biomass plant. A Geolodge. A reforestation plot. I helped build a water catcher for a family in the mountains.
What I found to be the most amazing part of the trip was that each company my classmates and I visited had aligned themselves with the goal of making Costa Rica being 100% carbon neutral by 2021. Everywhere we went, people shared that goal. It was in their DNA. In their business model. In their minds and in their hearts.
And it was truly inspiring.
